Matching Flanzer Trust Challenge

Would you like to double your investment in the lives of Academy members? Thanks to a unique opportunity by a local charitable trust, the Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust, you can double your impact to the Academy. The Flanzer matching program accepts monthly donations ranging from $5 to $500 per household with a maximum of $3,000 per year per selected charity. Individuals, private foundations and public charities are eligible for a matching gift from the Flanzer Trust.

Please note that your donation, from $5 to $500, needs to be made directly to the Flanzer Trust and will be matched 1:1. Once you make your donation, the Academy will receive a check from the Flanzer Trust totaling the sum of your donation plus the match. In order to participate in this matching gift opportunity, you will need to make a donation directly on the Flanzer Trust website.

Fundraising Luncheons

Are you interested in experiencing our community firsthand? Would you like to join us for a delicious meal, prepared and served by Academy members? We welcome guests, family and friends to Luncheons in our Academy dining room. The entire experience, from table service to presentations, is offered by Academy members and staff. This is a rare opportunity to experience of the power of recovery.

Our calendar of Luncheons is scheduled throughout the year. There is no cost to attend, and while there is an "ask" during our event, donations are voluntary. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to have a personal experience of the recovery process of our members.

Annual "Live from the Academy" Telethon

Do you remember the Jerry Lewis Telethons of yesteryear? Would you like to witness an updated approach inspired by the creativity of Academy members? Our Annual Telethon, "Live from the Academy" is broadcast on YouTube, and is the quintessential representation of the power of our community. Members and staff work side-by-side for several months to plan this event. Storyboarding the 90-minute event, scriptwriting and learning lines, filming and editing pre-recorded segments - all of our voices come together to share a message of opportunity, solidarity, and recovery. Our members put together an engaging experience for all - educational, thought-provoking, and full of laughs.

SRQ Giving Challenge

Ever wonder how can you support your favorite local charities? Thanks to the vision of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and generous matching gifts of the Patterson Foundation, you can invest in improved quality of life in our region. The Giving Challenge is a 24-hour virtual giving event that builds bridges between local nonprofit organizations and donors committed to making an impact.

The Academy is fortunate to participate in Annual Giving Challenges. Donations to the Academy come as unrestricted funds, giving us the flexibility to channel resources to the areas of most need. Our Giving Partner profile can be accessed at (giving partner link for Academy)

Subaru Share the Love

In an annual event that runs from November to January, Sarasota Subaru donates $250 to the Academy for every vehicle sold or leased during the campaign.

The Share the Love event has been happening nationally for the past 13 years and its participating retailers have donated more than $200 million to different charity and nonprofit organizations.
