At the Academy, members and staff are focused on healthy lifestyles that incorporate the 8 Dimensions of Wellness, as identified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA): Emotional, Environmental, Financial, Intellectual, Occupational, Physical, Social, and Spiritual.
Each member develops an individual goal plan based on the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
Members have the opportunity to strengthen their coping skills, experience improved personal relationships and achieve greater stability. Our work-ordered day and social programming are designed to focus on member strengths, talents and abilities.
Members enjoy a calming ambiance at the Academy, which is custom-designed with natural light and pleasant color schemes. Gardening is available on a daily basis. Members also have the opportunity to acquire dignified and/or improved housing with one of the Academy’s housing partners.
Members develop financial literacy, learn budgeting skills and achieve greater financial independence. Members who choose an employment path reduce their dependence on public benefits and develop greater self-sufficiency.
Members reawaken their creativity and mental potential by participating in the Academy’s vocational training areas. Cutting edge technology, industry standard equipment and challenging responsibilities are available to all members.
Members find purpose during our work-ordered day, build stamina and develop skills. Although not a requirement, career options are available through our Transitional and Supported Employment programs.
Members improve their physical health through nutrition and exercise. The Academy offers a nutritious daily lunch and a range of wellness activities including smoking cessation, exercise and stretching classes.
Members have the opportunity to make friends at their own pace and develop a social support network. This happens through interaction in the Academy’s work-ordered as well our evening, weekend and holiday programming.
