Safely gathering for Morning Meeting is just one small sign of a return to old routines.
Small changes tell us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Just as sprouts and buds tell us that spring is imminent, we are seeing the signs of life returning to something resembling normal around the Academy. Rest assured, we haven’t changed any of our safety protocols. But as more and more of us are vaccinated, attendance is creeping back up and we are slowly reintroducing some old routines.
For the past year, our morning meeting has been broadcast on Zoom and on-site members and staff have been spread throughout the building, seeing each other on screens. We are excited to say that at our most recent Academy meeting, we agreed as a community to begin holding the meeting together in the dining room. It’s still available on Zoom, but those of us who are on site are truly together.
Not to bury the lede, but we have also agreed to offer breakfast all week! While Friday will still be the star of the week with its decadent buffet, Monday through Thursday will offer a lighter continental breakfast, enjoyed while we attend the morning meeting together. It’s been a challenge to build back up to the attendance we were seeing before the pandemic, but here’s a little food for thought: if we feed them, they will come.
