As we began planning our new Wellness Wednesday series, we were thrilled to have found Pineapple Yoga Studio. Studio owner Claudia Baeza is a yogi with a heart for service, so it was a natural to partner with her to introduce yoga to our Academy community. Claudia has generously offered her time to bring yoga to our members.
The 60-minute gentle yoga class was perfect for anyone, from those beginning their yoga journey to more advanced practitioners. Some of us were on mats while others were more comfortable doing yoga from a chair. We learned postures such as the warrior pose and the tree pose, practiced mindful deep breathing, and stretched to open and strengthen our bodies.
Member Rick Pardo said after the class “my back hasn’t felt this good in years.” And while the physical benefits of yoga can’t be denied, the mental and emotional benefits are equally impactful. Just by bringing an awareness to our minds and bodies, we can begin to cultivate joy and a deeper sense of peace.
